Sir Winston Churchill

I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once more able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.

Even though large parts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.

Quote Of The Day

I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. Thomas Jefferson

Quote Of The Day

Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity. Albert Einstein

Phoenix Live At The Greek Theatre!

Last night I saw the amazing French band PHOENIX play live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California. I went with my sister Janna. I started to listening to this band in 2007 when I discovered they existed. Phoenix is original. They really have their own sound and it works. They are on tour to promote their new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. If you have $10 go to Target and buy this album now. You won't regret it. The songs are mixtures of danceable beats with clever guitar lines and melodies. The cool thing about them is that their songs are in English. They played the following songs (not in order unless noted): Lisztomania (first song), Fences, Love Like A Sunsets Parts 1 & 2, Lasso, Rome, Countdown, Girlfriend, Armistice, Too Young, Consolation Prizes, Napoleon Says, Long Distance Call, Run Run Run. ENCORE: unknown song with vocals / guitar only, If I Feel Better, 1901 (last song). They started at 9:30 pm and ended at 10:40 pm. "It's Never Been Like That...Never Been Like That!"

Update For My Readers

My name is Jon McFerson and I'm still here. I have been slacking off on my blog a bit lately due to some other responsibilities in my life. I'm sorry about not posting my usual cool posts lately (LOL). Life can be very busy and it has been for me lately. For those of you who aren't aware, my job is very intense. It's a meat grinder. Some days I come home from work and I'm just done mentally. Crazy people can hurt your brain. It has been draining me lately because I can't catch up. Also, some people think that I have a ton of free time because I am single and not married. Wow. To be honest with you I have never been busier in my life. Everyone is in a different situation and everyone is busy. My life is full of church meetings / responsibilities, work stuff, DJ jobs, band practices (I play in two), studying / research for my personal interests...and none of this factors in all of the last minute help I give people when they call me for assistance to move something, explain something, proof read something, etc. Everyone is busy. Everyone. Because one person is married or has a kid doesn't mean a person not in that situation is sitting around looking for something to do. I have made a promise to myself recently to really getting moving again with this blog thing. There are so many things to share!

I Still Have Nightmares Plays 17th Show!

On Saturday, September 5, 2009, I Still Have Nightmares played its 17th show at Fitzgerald's Pub in Huntington Beach, California. Also on the bill was my brother Jeffrey's band Northern Labour Party. We played a 45 minute set from 10:00 pm to 10:45 pm. I have been playing shows since 1986 (23 years!) and I must say that the sound guy last Saturday night was probably the BEST sound guy I have ever heard. My drums sounded HUGE and the rest of the band sounded amazing. This is a picture of my drum set. I hope you like it. Don't be scared by the Grim Reaper on my bass drum. He's a pretty nice guy as long as you don't mess with him! We played the following songs (in order): Last Night, Wicked Lover, Masquerade, I Want U Dead, Red Light (Siouxsie & The Banshees), Media Slaves, The Summoning, The Awakening, Virus, I Was A Teenage Werewolf (The Cramps).
