Coldplay - Death And All Of His Friends

All winter, we got carried
Away over on the rooftops, let's get married
All summer, we just hurried
So come over, just be patient and don't worry
So come over, just be patient and don't worry
So come over, just be patient and don't worry
And don't worry
No, I don't wanna battle from beginning to end
I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge
I don't wanna follow Death and all of his friends
No, I don't want to battle from beginning to end
I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge
I don't wanna follow Death and all of his friends

Some Of My Life Observations - Enjoy!

LIFE IS NOT FAIR: Some people look better than you. Some people make more money than you. Some people live in bigger houses than you. Some people go to better schools than you. Some people drive better cars than you. Some people have bigger bank accounts than you. I think you get the idea. Life is NOT fair. Deal with it.

PEOPLE: People are like books. Everyone has their own story to tell. Turn the pages and read the chapters. You never know who you are talking to. Like the old saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover."

WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF YOU: I’m going to make a bold statement here...people don’t sit around and think about you. That’s right, they don’t think about you. They don’t think about you because they are too busy thinking about themselves! They are also too busy talking to themselves. This is normal. Yes, everyone talks to themselves all day long. It’s true. Don't tell me you don't talk to yourself because you do.

THE WORLD: If you haven’t already done so, you need to change the way you see the world. Everyone is the same. Yes, everyone is the same. Don’t let language, race, religion, or culture get in the way. Everyone is the same. Everyone just wants to be happy (I hope!). I have travelled all over the world (20 countries) and it never ceases to amaze me how similar we all are. We all share the same planet therefore we should all be friends. Think about it.

WHAT YOU SAY: Say what you mean, mean what you say. Choose your words carefully. Talk clearly. Let people understand you. Do not offer unnecessary details that are not relevant to your conversation. People don’t care that you had a problem getting out of bed or your neighbor is a biologist. Offer relevant information for the given conversation. Of course, this information depends on who you are talking to and what the context is.

PEOPLE DON'T LISTEN (myself included!): Where do I begin with this one? I have been working in the same industry for the past 13 years and I have enough stories to fill up the Internet. I have probably talked to at least 15,000 to 20,000 people over the past 13 years just at work! Time and time again I am reminded that people don’t listen. You’ve got to listen to people! Listen to what they say and respond. Pay attention. Ask questions about what you are hearing and then listen to the answer! I'll be honest, I need to be a better listener.

JUDGMENT: Don’t go around judging people. It’s pathetic. Why don’t you just let them live their lives and you can worry about your own situation? You don’t know all of the facts and circumstances of that person’s life or what that person has gone through. They are not you. They don’t want to be you. They want to live their lives. I would hate someone to judge me without knowing the facts and circumstances.

DEATH: One day you are going to die. Yes, you will have your own personal dance with the Grim Reaper. This is guaranteed. Your house, car, friends, job are not going to go save you or go with you. You will meet your Maker. This is no joke. THIS IS REAL. One day people will gather at your funeral and, if you are lucky, cry their eyes out. How do you want to be remembered? They will not remember your car, job, house, etc. They will remember only YOU. They will remember your personality, your laugh, your kindness, how you made them feel, how you impacted their life, etc. Do it now. Become the person you know deep in your heart you should be.

Oasis - Live Forever (1994)

This is my favorite song by the English band OASIS. I want to live forever too. I hope I am blessed to be able to live a long mortal life. I am the happiest guy on Earth when I wake up alive every morning. Enjoy every second of your life because it's a privilege denied to many.

I Still Have A Job!

I dodged a serious bullet today. I work for a very large insurance company in the great state of California (yes, we are bankrupt) and there are two property claim offices. One is located in Northern California and one is located in Southern California. I work in the Southern California office. Today is day two of my vacation. I received a call from my manager this morning and she informed me that the Northern California office is going to be closed! The Southern California office will be the ONLY property claim office covering the ENTIRE state of California. The good news is that I still have a job. The bad news is that things are going to go from crazy busy to "Please give me a straitjacket!"

Vacation: July 6-10, 2009

I'm on vacation this week July 6-10, 2009. Work has been insane lately so taking this week off is going to be amazing. All I have done today is sit at my computer and do research on DSLR cameras. I'm really getting close to making my decision. I DJ'ed a wedding recently so I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. Please look at this picture. This is a Rolex Submariner. I'm sure it costs over $4000. I have always wanted one of these. In the summer of 1989 I was living in Bedford, Nova Scotia. I was a missionary for my church from January 20, 1988 to January 26, 1990. That summer in Nova Scotia was so humid I thought I would die. Bedford, Nova Scotia is a suburb of Halifax, Nova Scotia. On one of my days off in the summer of 1989 I went to downtown Halifax to act like a tourist. At some point I entered a jewelry store and held a Rolex Submariner in my hand. I was in heaven. Twenty years later I held a Rolex Submariner in my hand again and it didn't feel the same. It felt cheap. I was heartbroken. I always told myself that I would get one of these watches when I retire. I think I'll get an Omega now because Omega watches are amazing! They blow Rolex watches away (in my humble opinion). Why am I telling you all of this? I'm telling you all of this because this Rolex picture was taken by the camera and lens I am currently considering purchasing. Click on the picture and see how crisp it is. Even though I have internally moved on from the Rolex Submariner I couldn't take my eyes off of this picture. This image is so clear and this watch looks so good.

I Still Have Nightmares Plays 14th Show!

I Still Have Nightmares played its 14 show last night at The Joint in Los Angeles. We played with Rhythm Coffin. It was their CD release party. For those of you who may have forgotten, I play drums in this band. I am having so much fun playing drums (bass is my first instrument) in this band. Sometimes when I'm playing a song I think to myself, "I have wanted to play drums in a band for over 20 years and now I'm doing it!" I have been very blessed in many areas of my life - including playing drums. I'm very grateful. Set List (in order): Suicide Bridge, The Summoning, The Awakening, Media Slaves, Last Night, Virus.
